Resting In the Storm
When Jesus told His disciples, “Let’s go over to the other side of the Lake.” He was telling them His desire and intentions for them. When God tells us to do something, He desires and intends on us completing it. He is already speaking from the place of knowing we can accomplish it. The disciples become fearful when the winds and waves were overwhelming them. The Lord rebuked them for not having faith in what He TOLD them they were to do. They allow the circumstances to bring doubt and fear instead of resting on His words. After the Lord spoke to the wind and the waves and calmed the storm, their fear shifted from fear of the situation to the fear of the Lord (recognizing His authority and power). Jesus wants us to rest WITH Him in the midst of our circumstances. He longs for us to totally surrender and fully trust Him and crawl up and rest beside Him.
